I'm surprised to say that after 28 weeks of bowling, it's finally over. I finished with a disappointing 179 all around average. I knew that I could have done better, had it not been for certain things... like rushing my shot, or not cleaning my ball when it needed it badly.
Some things that I've learned in competitive bowling:
1. Never underestimate the old geezers. They can rock your socks when it comes to bowling!
2. Always follow through with your shot.
3. Understanding oil patterns takes at least 5 throws. For me, it would probably take an entire match to understand how both lanes would work for my ball.
4. Wipe, wipe, wipe your ball! Especially if the lanes are wet!
5. Never bowl more than 3 games.
I just got back from Las Vegas bowling my very first tournament. I wish the trip could have lasted a bit longer so that I wouldn't have to have driven back and forth in a timespan of less than 2 days. Here are some pictures from the trip.

My first throw in a bowling competition
I did above average, finishing with a 561 series (183, 184, 194)... which is surprising considering that the lanes were really wet. Our team came in 23/84 overall, so I took it as something to be proud of. There's always that "what if..." lurking in the back of my head, but that's something I can live with.
There was a slot tournament, which I have never participated in. That was probably the most fun I had with a slot machine... because you don't have ANYTHING to lose!
Vegas was a blast... and the Orleans was awesome as usual. I will always cherish those memories. I am now a certified bowler, and this is not the last you will see of me!
Until then, happy bowling everybody.
Steve Nguyen
